Please Go HOME

My mother-in-law has been here since December 19th. She is not leaving until January 7th. Need I say more?

I realize she doesn't come often but that is way too long to intrude into the lives of other people.

One week is a visit. Nearly a month is a move in.

I know loads of people who don't see their family often. I don't know anyone who would stay for nearly a month if given the opportunity to visit family.

It's a bit rude and inconsiderate.

I agree totally. I have gone from aggravated to mad to livid, and all without saying a word. I figure I probably won't make it another week without the top blowing off the pressure cooker. I got royally pissed at my husband tonight, which I never do. I really wanted to tell them both where to go and get in my car and leave. Being really angry is something I haven't felt in years, and it is overwhelming.

Oh dear!! That is a long (cough cough) visit!

I don't see my mom very often as she's lived in Korea for the past decade or so, but even when she comes, she is considerate of the week rule and always, always asks if it's OK if she can stay longer than that -- and she's MY mom.

Hold on just a bit longer -- you can make it. I don't know, maybe take a few hours break and go to a park or something? It sounds silly, but it can help. Or just get your advent calendar out and set the end date to 1/7? Sorry, just trying to life your spirits. :)
